Stone figurines of a priestess and other female figures

From Sparta. Early Neolithic period, 6500-5800 BC.

The naked “priestess” with the characteristic head cover and the incised symbols of zig-zag and lozenges on the shoulders, is accompanied by three more schematic female figures. They were found together with beads of green stone and small vessels of white stone, revealing an aspect of Neolithic ritual.
