Marble young female head – Aspects of Beauty

From the Argive Heraion. Around 420 BC.

The long hair, bound with a fillet, falls over the nape. The soft facial skin and especially the braid along the central parting characterize her as a young virgin. It probably belonged to the architectural decoration of the temple.
