Bronze figurine of a warrior

From the Sanctuary of Zeus at Olympia. Mid 8th c. BC.
(EAM/NAM 6178)

He wears a crested helmet. Slender legs, a rhomboid torso, triangular head shape with accentuated chin, are features of similar figures in vase painting of the Geometric period. Figurines of naked male figures, warriors, charioteers as well as horses adorned the handles of tripod cauldrons, the most precious votive offerings in the sanctuaries of that era.
