Clay rhyta in the shape of a shoe

From Pikermi and Glyphada, Attica. Second half of the 14th c. BC.

These rare and distinctive vessels reproduce the shape of a closed shoe with a hooked toe. Though found in graves, they should have originally had some kind of ritual use.
