Gold necklace, with precious stones
(garnet and carnelian)

From a grave in Amarynthos (Vathia), Euboea. 2nd-1st c. BC.
(ΕΑΜ/ΝΑΜ Χρ.781)

It consists of globular beads in the interspaces of which hang twelve spiked and heart-shaped items with inset garnets and other stones, as well as a crescent-shaped one and a gold cylindrical case-amulet. Inscribed metal sheets, fabric remains, plant seeds, beads, soil, sometimes with sulfur, have been found in cases like this one and they are usually connected with religious, magical or chthonic beliefs.
