Spouted conical cup decorated with heads of barley

From Akrotiri, Thera. 16th c. BC
(ΕΑΜ/ΝΑΜ ΑΚΡ. 1290)

The ripe heads of this valuable cereal are painted as gently rustling in the breeze. This vivid and full of motion depiction of the natural world conforms to the three-dimensional object and is characteristic of Theran pottery.
