Red-burnished jug and black-burnished semi-spherical bowl

From Cyprus. 2000-1800 BC. (jug), 1900-1725 BC. (bowl)
(ΕΑΜ/ΝΑΜ A 12046, A 12379)

Ηandmade vessels, with a glossy surface because of the burnishing, decorated with engraved linear motifs filled with a white limestone substance. The jug with its very narrow neck and globular body recalls a gourd, while the perforated knobs are probably decorative. The elaborate linear beaming and circular designs of the bowl create a lovely contrast with the black surface of the vase.
